New Social Enterprise for South Liverpool Housing

10 January 2009


Pulse Regeneration has been awarded the contract to develop a Feasibility Study for a proposed new social enterprise to be delivered by South Liverpool Housing. The aim of the study is to create a vehicle that can deliver a range of training and employment opportunities for local people in the Speke and Garston area of Liverpool, whilst working to a position of long-term financial sustainability.

Charlestown and Lower Kersal NDC – Planning for Succession

12 November 2008


The NDC Partnership in Salford has appointed Pulse Regeneration to work with the Board to appraise the options developed for the Succession Strategy. The Partnership has had a total of £53 million from Government to regenerate the areas of Charlestown and Lower Kersal, and is now looking to its activities post March 2011. The work includes in depth research and consultation, board sessions to consider different models available and visits to development trusts and other organisations that have undergone transition. The report once complete will assist the Board in its decision making regarding the future.

Pulse Welcomes Kathryn Burkitt

Pulse Regeneration warmly welcomes Kathyrn Burkitt, former Development Manager of Thorne Moorends Regeneration Partnership in South Yorkshire. Kathryn will lead on the company’s developing portfolio in the Yorkshire and the Humber region, and initially will be assisting Doncaster Central Development Trust CIC with the delivery of a number of capital projects. Kathryn commented,

“I am really looking forward to being part of the Pulse team, most recently I have worked on Regeneration initiatives primarily in South Yorkshire; from large capital builds to community consultations, so it will be great to share my experience as well as learn about new projects that Pulse are working on throughout the UK "

INplaces Facility Management

Pulse Regeneration has recently concluded a Business Plan for INplaces (a project within the PLUS Dane Housing Group) to progress their community facilities bank project. The project focuses on refurbishing underutilised community assets to increase usage, sharing resources between community assets to reduce costs, and providing local people with training opportunities in relation to environmental contracting work for those community assets. The business plan documents the business model for the project as well as developing a realistic four-phased strategy for the expansion of the model on a financially sustainable basis.

Lydiate Funding Success

26 September 2008


Pulse Regeneration developed a business plan and funding application to the Big Lottery Fund’s Community Buildings Programme for Lydiate Parish Council. The Council were delighted to hear that they have been awarded £500,000 from the programme, which will allow the development of the new Village Centre. The Centre will provide space for a number of inter generational activities and a new office for the Parish Council.

Bootle Stadium Funding Success

12 August 2008


Pulse Regeneration Project Manager, Lisa Roberts, remains involved in providing development support for Bootle Community Sports Stadium Ltd. Following discussions with key partners and Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council, a lease for the premises has recently been awarded to the company. Lisa is now working closely with the board to approach a number of funders and charitable trusts to raise the necessary capital funding for the building improvement work. Children and Need have just announced that a donation of £43,000 will be provided to purchase a wide range of sports equipment.

KHT Tenant Consultation

23 May 2008


Pulse Regeneration has just completed a consultation commission for Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT), enabling the RSL to review its asset base and determine whether garage units should receive investment. The role included gaining views from tenants through development of a postal survey, associated assessment and statistical analysis of the returns, and development of a detailed report. Surveys were sent to over 400 tenants, with an impressive return rate of 51%.

Business Liverpool Uses E-learning

28 April 2008


Business Liverpool has recently taken licenses to use Pulse Regeneration’s Social Enterprise E-Learning Course, providing use of the tool to third sector organisations across Liverpool. The e-course has been developed to provide an interactive learning resource for existing or pre-start social enterprises, to develop an understanding and awareness of the key issues faced in developing successful social enterprises. The course contains five modules; legal issues, board development, finances, marketing, and business planning. Users are able to re-tale modules as often as required to update information, and are able to produce their own personalised reports for each module.

Pulse Welcomes Ian Ogilvie to the Liverpool Office

Pulse Regeneration warmly welcomes Ian Ogilvie to the Liverpool Office today. As Graduate Regeneration Consultant, Ian will be taking on a number of commissions across the country. Ian was formerly a Neighbourhood Development Officer at St Helens Council, having completed a Degree in Urban and Regional Geography and a Masters Degree in Urban Regeneration. Managing Director Chris Hart commented;

Trinity Church Project Management

5 April 2008


Pulse Regeneration has been commissioned to undertake a nine-month project management role for Trinity Methodist Church in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. This is an exciting role and enables Pulse Regeneration to provide hands-on support and guidance to the Church. It is envisaged the Church will become a multi-purpose facility, to be accessed by a number of people in the local community. The role will cover a number of key areas, including assisting in the securing of funding to contribute towards the redevelopment of the Church. The Church has recently been shortlisted for The People's Millions Fund and The Griffin Awards.
